Accedian and Collaboration Wins Carrier Network Virtualization Award

Proof-of-concept recognized for driving NFV adoption

Montreal, Canada – December, 8, 2016 –  Accedian, the end-to-end network performance experts, has been awarded the ‘Cutting Edge Proof of Concept’ Award for its work with, the open source network service orchestration experts, as part of the Carrier Network Virtualization event in Palo Alto, California. The collaboration between Accedian and provides a scalable, network functions virtualization (NFV) performance monitoring (PM) solution for cloud-based services.

The proof-of-concept (POC) combines Accedian’s SkyLIGHT VCX™ virtualized performance assurance controller (vPAC)—the industry’s first fully virtualized performance assurance platform—with’s RIFT.ware, an ETSI-compliant NFV management and network orchestration (MANO) solution. Together, the NFV-PM solution addresses the performance assurance requirements and simplifies the deployment of virtual network functions (VNFs) to satisfy customer service level agreements (SLAs).

The orchestrated NFV-PM solution offers:

  • Test session control and test packet generator, handled by the SkyLIGHT VCX™ vPAC
  • Test packet reflector replaced with either a VNF-based reflector or a Nano Smart SFP/ ant Module
  • Precision timestamping managed by the SkyLIGHT VCX™ vPAC and the reflector on a per-session basis

The POC is pivotal for driving the adoption of NFV through the application of virtual network functions (VNFs). The combination of Accedian’s SkyLIGHT VCX™ with RIFT.ware gives service providers the flexibility and agility to instantaneously add service assurance capabilities according to new service growth.

“We are extremely proud and honored to receive this award alongside, recognizing our respective innovations in in virtualized performance assurance and network orchestration,” said Patrick Ostiguy, President & CEO at Accedian. “This award is another validation of our efforts and contribution in the industry and spurs us on for further success in accelerating NFV adoption.”
