Accedian boosts leadership team with industry leaders

Sergio Bea and Richard Piasentin join senior team as Accedian expands into new markets

Montreal, CANADA – January 30, 2018 – Accedian, the global end-to-end network performance experts, today announced the appointment of Sergio Bea as its VP Global Enterprise and Channels, and Richard Piasentin as Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) and Chief Strategy Officer (CSO). The appointments come as Accedian continues to grow and expand into new markets and business segments.

“Accedian is entering an exciting period of growth, and 2018 is set to be a transformational year for the business. As we continue to grow and scale, Sergio and Richard will be key in coordinating our strategy and ensuring that we achieve our goals for the year,” said Accedian founder and CEO Patrick Ostiguy. “Industry veterans such as Sergio and Richard bring the necessary expertise for Accedian to continue being a leading provider in its space.”

Sergio Bea

As VP Global Enterprise and Channels, Sergio will draw on his 23 years’ experience to support Accedian’s growth in the enterprise and channel space. Throughout his career in telecom, Sergio has held a multitude of roles across various disciplines, including sales, business development, strategy, consulting, and services. During the past decade, Sergio focused exclusively on building and growing enterprise and channel businesses globally, for which he was awarded the Channel Chief Award from CRN two years consecutively, in 2016 and 2017.

Sergio joins Accedian from Viavi Solutions, where he led the development and implementation of Viavi’s channel strategy and managed the Network Performance Monitoring and Diagnostics (NPMD) business. Prior to his position at Viavi, Sergio held roles at Ciena, Nortel Networks, and Accenture.

Commenting on his appointment, Sergio said: “The enterprise market is rapidly changing, and customers are quickly embracing the need for network and application performance monitoring, especially with the acceleration of Digital Transformation and the advent of technologies such as network functions virtualization (NFV) and software-defined networking (SDN). Accedian is perfectly positioned to capitalize on this new opportunity and grow its enterprise focus. I’m looking forward to using my experience to support the company’s development within this space.”

Richard Piasentin

Richard joins as CMO and CSO, where he will be responsible for driving Accedian’s strategic plan and its communications and marketing strategy. Richard will also support Accedian’s commercialization efforts in global product pricing, solution marketing, and business development.

In his previous role at Viavi Solutions, Richard led the Visibility, Intelligence and Analytics (VIA) business unit. Richard began his career with Nortel Networks in 1992 as a test engineer for Nortel’s public carrier switching division, and held a number of senior roles within sales, operations, supply chain and P&L during his 17 years at the company. Richard also held the role of VP and Managing Director for US Sales, Marketing and Operations at BlackBerry.

Following his appointment, Richard commented: “For any company experiencing a period of growth and scale, it’s important that a consistent communications and marketing strategy is put in place to support the sales teams. I’m excited to lead the team responsible for making Accedian’s goals a reality and see the company continue to lead the network performance assurance market.”

Both Sergio and Richard will report to Dion Joannou, who joined Accedian in July 2017 as Chief Operating Officer (COO). Dion is responsible for the company’s global sales, business development, marketing and operations.
