Why U.S. Cable MSOs want to break into the enterprise market

U.S. cable MSOs are investing significant resources toward the goal of becoming major players in the enterprise business services market—with good reason. In a new white paper (sponsored by Accedian), Alan Breznick, Cable/Video Practice Leader at Light Reading, explores what’s so attractive about the enterprise market.
There’s significant opportunity for cable operators breaking into enterprise services, which currently command less than 1 percent of market share. By using modern, flexible options, cable operators can lure customers away from incumbents/telcos. MSOs have also calculated the revenue opportunity to be in the billions of dollars.

In the near-term, cable operators are likely to achieve success in the enterprise market by focusing on service products like metro Ethernet, business bundles, enhanced voice, and managed services. Longer-term, success will be achieved through cloud services, mobility support, and leased capacity, Breznick predicts.
