The institution required a network and application performance monitoring solution that would ensure excellent quality of service (QoS) as well as proactively monitor applications to ensure optimal user experience while accelerating troubleshooting resolution across the entire infrastructure. The institute engaged with Skylight™ initially around network performance monitoring, expanding the project’s scope to include applications, as well.

The BPCE IT department, which has over 1,200 employees, initially selected Skylight™ as a performance monitoring solution for its WAN network, which connected remote branches to the main data center and headquarters.

Group S has seen considerable growth in the size of its business, and, correspondingly, the breadth and depth of its IT infrastructure since it first deployed Skylight™ nearly eight years ago.

As a result of the merger, the company undertook a number of IT migration initiatives aimed at generating economies of scale as well as delivering enhanced application performance.

With IT systems becoming more complex due to virtualization, a high number of switches, and redundant infrastructure, network sniffers and other types of network analysis tools can no longer help in troubleshooting performance degradations. Splitpoint’s customers expect exemplary network analysis and monitoring services from the company: the ability to quickly troubleshoot network performance issues through a completely holistic view.

With a strong track record in helping clients with monitoring and analyzing their networks, Horus-Net found their current partner portfolio of packet capture, network analysis, network performance management, and application performance management solutions did not comprehensively meet its clients’ needs. The solution provider desired a partner that could offer a complete, scalable NAPM feature set, a solution that could be implemented easily and quickly.

Even though Indexis has already invested in existing network and application performance monitoring (NAPM) tools, the company felt it needed a more robust solution that delivered broader functionality. The new solution would need to scale accordingly, work with a more fully-virtualized data center, and offer more intuitive access to troubleshooting data.

With considerable growth in its cloud hosting business, CGI Brazil realized that it needed to automate and scale its network performance monitoring capabilities. Additionally, while confident its network and cloud services were best-in-class, CGI Brazil often received help desk calls related to degraded user experience specific to customer applications. It was critical for CGI Brazil to help their customers find the root cause of issues, even when they often did not originate in the CGI Brazil infrastructure. This would help customers realize that a lower mean-time-to-resolution (MTTR) was a business-critical priority for CGI.

With three large data centers located in South Africa, the company, with a growing cloud hosting services presence, realized that it needed a network performance monitoring solution that could help in managing the growing complexity of its operations. Its current solution did not offer the full functionality or capabilities critical to identifying root cause issues or resolving performance issues and incidents.

The company engaged Accedian as the existing networking monitoring and troubleshooting tools were not delivering the optimal Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) value that Audatex/AUTO online required. They sought a form of continuous monitoring that offered historical traffic and performance data as well as ex-post analysis insights. They also were seeking 360° visibility from the network layer all the way up to the application layer.

IT systems are becoming more complex. When network managers who troubleshoot issues do not have the visibility they need, business can come to a grinding halt and customers do not receive the best quality of service they deserve, including on-time delivery of their packages. The postal group’s fleet of trucks was experiencing ongoing issues with truck reporting such as location and logistics. Data was coming from disparate locations either inconsistently or not at all.

Before implementing the Skylight™ solution, we were repeatedly faced with user complaints. Our teams often found it difficult to respond to the complaints due to a total lack of visibility of network activity at remote sites. They were not able to quickly resolve issues, lacking a tool enabling them to identify the source of performance degradations.

With over 3,500 active end users accessing the network and networked applications, the company saw a rise in end-user response time (EURT) issues as well as the stress placed on the IT infrastructure. Spie Batignolles also went through a number of significant migrations and architectural changes specific to its data center, including complete replacement of its storage infrastructure and an internal message system migration to Office 365.

With two data centers and approximately 200 servers, most of which are virtualized, the institution relies heavily on Wi-Fi to support its remote, e-learning management programs. Quality of service (QoS) issues, due to a WAN migration, resulted in network performance degradations. The institution did not have a set of relevant measurements and tools to troubleshoot and resolve degradations and user complaints. The institution also lacked the in-house skills to address issues around its database applications: applications that were critical to most end-users, especially those who are e-learners.

The company’s business operations and its ability to transact business, and quickly respond to customer and user requests, are highly dependent on an IT infrastructure and network available around the clock without disruption. Because the IT infrastructure is distributed across three main sites in different countries (i.e., ranging from industrial design to business management), it is critical that the WAN operates without degradation under heavy utilization. This is because data is constantly being replicated between multiple sites (i.e., for security reasons). Network and application degradations, slowdowns, or downtime are not an option in this mission-critical environment.

Due to 24/7/365 mission-critical application usage by its employees, and the large amount of data–namely documents moving through the network supporting business transactions, the company’s success and business productivity was highly dependent on its network to deliver real-time access with no degradations or downtime.
