Sensor: control
Scalable and extremely granular active testing and monitoring
Skylight sensor control is a virtualized software test platform that can combine with Skylight hardware modules and SFPs to collect performance data from Layer 2 to Layer 4 across multi-vendor networks.
You can use Skylight sensor control in a standalone manner or combine it with Skylight modules (small two-port hardware form factor) or SFP compute to deliver multi-flow traffic generation and to monitor the performance of thousands of flows across all locations. The control sensor maintains synchronization information for each endpoint, permitting highly precise one-way measurements.
This includes real-time performance monitoring at Layer 2 (SOAM), Layer 3 (TWAMP) and Layer 4 (TCP throughput); bandwidth monitoring (flowmeter); service activation testing (SAT); packet capture (flow broker); and Layer 2 service demarcation.
Skylight sensor control can be deployed as software on open compute platforms (x86, VMware or KVM, or cloud) and works with Skylight modules and SFPs.

Skylight sensor: module
Add key performance assurance features to address the end-to-end service lifecycle—including service activation testing (SAT), continuous performance monitoring, passive flow metering and capture, and MEF-type service demarcation, assurance and connectivity fault management (CFM). All this in a small form factor hardware module automated and orchestrated through Skylight sensor control software.
Skylight sensor: SFP compute
Ideal for fiber exhaust applications, the SFP compute employs a fully-featured FPGA capable of active Layer 2-4 testing and traffic generation. These capabilities come in a compact, power-efficient footprint without compromising performance, scalability, and precision. This sensor is an ideal fit for cost and space-sensitive applications where performance is a key service differentiator.
