Skylight Traffic Capture Appliances

Lightweight Appliances Capture and Analyze Traffic With Minimal Impact

Skylight virtual traffic capture appliances are lightweight probes that can sit in enterprise branch offices, data centers, or the cloud, and are linked to a central datastore. They collect all network flows and application transactions with the absolute minimum of impact on IT resources. To ensure the largest scalability, many capture devices can be linked to a single, central datastore appliance that provides a unified graphical interface and offers centralized configuration management for each capture device that is paired with it.

Passive Traffic Capture Alternatives

The following Skylight traffic capture alternatives are available:

Physical and Virtual Capture Appliances

Skylight traffic capture appliances can monitor traffic from switches, routers, packet brokers, or taps, or be natively deployed in virtualized IT environments. Deployed inside virtual hosts, Skylight virtual capture appliances acquire all network traffic and produce performance metrics that will be sent to the central datastore. Skylight provides exhaustive visibility on to the network health as well as the application transactions exchanged by all virtual machines in the data center.

Accedian can provide sizing recommendations according to network traffic volumes, enabling IT professionals to adjust the resources allocated to virtual appliances.

Packet Broker (SkyLIGHT flow broker)

When it’s not practical to host a Skylight capture appliance, Skylight flow broker can remotely capture and deliver wire data to the Skylight datastore for analysis.

A virtualized packet broker, Skylight flow broker is ideal for extending coverage to branch offices. Its zero-touch plug & go installation automates endpoint discovery and configuration, making it simple to set up remotely.
