Session 1

The Signal and the Noise: Visibility and Equipoise Key in Reducing Complexity to Sharpen Your Cybersecurity Posture

Christopher Kissel, IDC (Research Director, Security & Trust Products)

With fluid networks, and now fluid employees, businesses find themselves in a classic catch-22:

  • Pressure to deliver innovation and cloud apps to unleash productivity for employees and customers without creating opportunities for hackers alike
  • Increased performance and assured digital experiences without sacrificing security
  • Choosing the right tools that provide useful security insights without introducing more complexity

Despite consolidation and acquisition frenzy by SIEM vendors, and the promises from XDR (Extended Detection and Response) vendors that they can do it all, there is a yearning for a Back to Basics philosophy to improve cybersecurity postures.

In fact, products such as network intelligence and threat analytics (NITA) were designed with digital transformation (DX) in mind. NITA tools can gather telemetry from cloud environments and provide end-to-end performance and security insights. We discuss what differentiates true insights from the noise and how to choose the right tools for your network on your digital transformation journey.

Session 2

4 Steps to Build Your Organizational and Cyber Resilience

Mary Roark, Senior Director of Solutions Marketing, CISSP, Accedian

Our organizational resiliency is dependent on the resilience of complex networks and the resilience of the network depends not only on the performance of various network elements but the security of the underlying network.

Interdependent Elements:

  1. Organizational resilience means we can “anticipate, prepare for, respond and adapt to incremental change and sudden disruptions in order to survive and prosper.”
  2. Network resilience means that your network can handle the increased demands placed on it from new applications and usage patterns from your employees and customers.
  3. Cyber resilience is the ability to defend against and quickly recover from cyber incidents that would otherwise impair business continuity.

We will take a journey through 4 proactive steps to build human resilience and see how we can apply them to managing our networks and building more resilient and secure organizations.

Session 3

Building Your Skills While Having Fun Using CTFs and Cyber Ranges

Ed Skoudis, Fellow and Director of Cyber Ranges, SANS Institute

Based on lessons learned from creating, running, and participating in Capture the Flag events and cyber ranges for over a decade, Ed Skoudis will share some of his best tips and tricks for learning the most utilizing hands-on CTFs and ranges.

This lively presentation will include information about some of the best free CTF exercises available today, as well as a sneak preview of the annual SANS Holiday Hack challenge coming up in December.

Session 4

Closing session and live announcement of winners of the Threat Interceptors Challenge CTF Hackathon event
